KDF soldiers takes cover inside Westgate
The Kenya Defence Forces spokesperson Emmanuel Chirchir has come out to defend his officers over the bad publicity currently being printed against them following allegations of major looting from the Westgate attacked mall.
CCTV footage has pointed out that the officers who took charge from the Recce squad on Saturday night,the first of the attack,engaged im massive looting of shops from 07:03pm when the first soldier is captured stepping in.
Business owners including banks from the mall have come out expressing their disappointments and counting losses after what they terms as heavy looting.
However in reaction to the allegations,Chirchir says the officers did an excellent job and attributes the bad publicity to their enemies. " KDF did a fantastic job, we know our enemies who have decided to use propaganda to undermine our public good will. " Says KDF's spokesperson.
He confidently says that they broke into banks and casino safes and secured sh.300m amongst other valued documents into safety.
He singles out Barclays Bank,DTB, CFC, and KCB branches at Westgate were both secured," Over 300million repatriated from the banks, forex and casino at the Westgate. KDF did a fantastic job" he insists.
He says anyone with evidence to prove that the officers looted should step forward and provide the same to help in prosecuting the offending officers.
Casino,ATMs,Banks,Money safes,art café,jewelery shops were all broken into to "repatriate and secure" valuables.
